Overview

With OpenAI’s chat commerce launch approaching, I explored potential pain points and designed a simple way to ease shopping uncertainty with AI.

Problem

01

Fragmented Product Evaluation

In chat, product pages don’t offer the same depth or flexibility as traditional PDPs, making it harder for users to assess products.

02

Product Visualization

Seeing products outside of a sellers curated product page could lead to buyer uncertainty.

03

Constrained Exploration

The chat interface limits how many product insights or tools can surface at once, slowing exploration and decision-making.

Solution

Prompt chips

Prompt chips at the product stage could help ease buyer friction by giving users quick ways to explore visuals or specs through pre-prompted AI.

User flow

I mapped out a singular flow from initial prompt to completed purchase based on OpenAI's agentic commerce model.

Quick wireframe

I used Figma Make to create the initial UI layers. And built screens for each of the steps described above.

Details

I used an AI generated color palette to bring the experience to life and populated the details with a product from the Patagonia website.
